Championship level football teams are often built from the trenches. As LSU coach Brian Kelly looks to continue building this aspect of his team, class of 2025 top Louisiana offensive lineman Devin Harper has named the Tigers as one of his contenders.

LSU named a contender for top Louisiana offensive lineman Devin Harper

Since the moment coach Brian Kelly stepped on campus at LSU, one position group has served as his main priority: offensive line.

Throughout his time as a head coach, Kelly has always seemed to understand the importance of building a roster from the line of scrimmage out. Luckily for the Tigers, this just so happened to have been an area the purple and gold were lacking in when he first arrived on campus.

However, with the help of offensive line coach Brad Davis, things have turned around in a major way. This past year LSU was named a finalist for the Joe Moore Award, annually awarded to the top offensive line in college football.

In turn, recruiting has also experienced a jump up over the last few years. Since arriving in Baton Rouge, coach Brian Kelly has brought in 17 new addition offensive linemen, including six in the current class of 2024 cycle. Now, as we begin to take a look forward into future recruiting classes, he likely hopes to continue this trend.

Kicking things off with the class of 2025, offensive tackle Brett Bordelon is already committed, and as of today, top Louisiana offensive lineman Devin Harper is also taking a strong look at the in-state Tigers.

Standing as a 6-foot-5, 300-pound inside offensive lineman out of Shreveport, LA, few high school players come even close to matching the sheer size of Harper. Add in the fact that he’s a two-sport athlete with solid mobility, it’s not hard to see why he’s already being viewed as one of the top players in the class of 2025.

Ranking as the No. 109 player nationally, according to 247Sports, as well as the No. 2 player in Louisiana, keeping him in-state would be a major win. It’d be even bigger when you consider the Tigers have already landed the No. 1 player in the Boot, running back Harlem Berry.

Being named among his top-10 is already a good step for coach Brian Kelly’s squad. Now, it’s just a matter of sealing the deal down the line.

Along with the purple and gold, Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Mississippi State, Oklahoma, Ole Miss, Tennessee, Texas and Texas Tech are also in contention for the four-star recruit.
