While the transfer portal has largely taken control of college football over the last few weeks, LSU is still making a strong push at some big-time class of 2025 recruits. Most recently, the Tigers were named one of seven finalists for five-star safety Jonah Williams.

One of the top recruits in the class of 2025 has lowered his list of top schools, and once again, LSU football is right up amongst the remaining contenders.

Five-star safety Jonah Williams was first offered by coach Brian Kelly and his staff on May 2, 2023, and since then, the purple and gold have remained right around the front of the mind, most recently being named as one of his final seven schools.

Ranking No. 12 nationally, according to 247Sports, as well as No. 2 among safeties, few players in the entire country have an offer list that compares to that of Williams – who’s been one of the top recruits for years now.

With that, he also happens to possess a top-seven that’s about as impressive as it gets. As we stand today, his final schools in consideration are LSU, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Oregon, Texas, Texas A&M and USC.

In terms of what he’ll bring from a recruiting standpoint, Williams has the size and athleticism to play several positions on defense, meaning he’ll bring immediate flexibility to whichever team he ends up with. Listed at 6-foot-3, 205 pounds, he has the height and weight necessary to play linebacker, and as a multi-sport athlete, he also has the overall athleticism necessary to play safety.

There’s no indication yet on when a final decision will be made, but with the Galveston, TX, product set to take an official visit to Baton Rouge, LA, on June 7, 2024, Tiger fans have every reason to feel optimistic about the direction in which this recruitment is currently moving.
