Wake up, Tiger fans, it’s game day! The week eight LSU football vs. Army matchup is officially upon us! Ahead of tonight’s game, coach Brian Kelly broke down his injury report for the game.

LSU football vs. Army injury report

  • Sophomore OT Emery Jones Jr – OUT
  • Junior DT Mekhi Wingo – OUT
  • Redshirt sophomore WR Chris Hilton Jr – Available

Earlier this week, coach Brian Kelly spoke to the media and named three players as having injury issues heading into LSU football vs. Army.

“We’ve got two guys that are doubtful for this weekend, that’s Emery Jones and Mekhi Wingo,” Kelly said on Monday“They’ll be listed as doubtful; we’ll see how they progress during the week. And then Chris Hilton is a probable for this weekend.”

However, on Thursday, after a few more days of evaluation, it appears that things progressed about how he expected, saying“Wingo and Jones are out, Hilton is in.”

Regarding the two big men who have been officially ruled out, it doesn’t sound like coach Kelly is too concerned, but rather, he wants to rest them heading into the BYE week.

“Mekhi Wingo has been nursing a lower-body injury all year,” Brian Kelly said about the junior defensive tackle. “This gives us a chance to really get him right going into the BYE week and then the rest of the season.”

While Wingo’s ruling sounds much more precautionary, Emery Jones Jr suffered an ankle sprain vs. Auburn, which could keep him out of a couple of games.

“We think it’s an injury that can be managed quite well and that we’ll have him back,” Kelly continued. “Again, as we look at this, from an injury standpoint, we’re always going to be deliberate in making sure these guys are 100 percent moving forward as we get into the year. But both of them are guys that we feel comfortable are going to be back at full strength.”

Betting odds, how to watch

With just hours remaining until today’s matchup, things are looking good for the Tigers to come away with a victory. While the Army offense could pose some challenges to the defense, Vegas still views LSU football as a significant favorite.

According to Vegas Insider, the Tigers are a 31.5-point favorite, with the over/under sitting around 58.5.

Game time is set for 6:30 p.m. CST at Tiger Stadium in Baton Rouge, LA. For those planning to attend in person, gates will open around 4:30 p.m. CST, and for those who will be watching the week eight matchup from home, it will be available live on SEC Network.
