And so the wait continues. For quite some time, it was widely understood that four-star LSU football recruit Kobe Black was set to make his final college decision on November 29. However, after a change of heart, the stud cornerback switched it up, announcing that his new commitment date will take place in December.
Five-star LSU football recruit Kobe Black pushes commitment date to December
As things stand, the LSU football recruiting class of 2024 sits at 26 commitments and ranks No. 14 nationally. For most programs, that might be the end of discussion, barring any potential decommitments.
Still, coach Brian Kelly understands that if you’re going to be the best and beat the best, you need to bring in the best. Naturally, that means he will likely continue recruiting each individual class until each recruit is signed to one program or another.
One player in particular who the Tiger head coach has his sights set on is four-star LSU football recruit Kobe Black. The star cornerback is one of the best players in the country, regardless of position and has the potential make an immediate impact for any team in the country.
While we were initially scheduled to learn of his commitment today, we instead found out that we’ll have to wait a bit longer for a final decision.
Standing at 6-foot, 190-pounds, the cornerback out of Waco, TX is by far one of the best players in Texas, as well as the country. According to the 247 Sports Composite, he’s No. 35 nationally and No. 10 in-state.
The high four-star has incredible speed, and with excellent size, can matchup with just about anyone. Even better, he has the kind of athleticism that gives him flexibility to play several positions in the defensive backfield.
With the extended deadline, it will be curious if we see coach Brian Kelly make a concerted effort at the elite playmaker over the coming weeks. Otherwise, it looks as though either Texas or Texas A&M could be the current favorite to land his commitment.
