The college football regular season has concluded, providing coaches and players with an opportunity for reflection on their future paths. For LSU football, this is exactly what they hope might be the case for four-star Texas A&M commit and elite Louisiana edge rusher Gabriel Reliford ahead of his official visit this weekend.

Four-star Texas A&M commit Gabriel Reliford to visit Baton Rouge this weekend

Gabriel Reliford, a standout edge rusher and one of Louisiana’s top recruits for the class of 2024, holds the No. 8 spot in-state and No. 276 nationally, per the 247 Sports Composite. Securing his commitment was likely a significant goal for Coach Brian Kelly.

However, following a visit to College Station in June, he elected to end his recruitment, announcing his commitment to Jimbo Fisher and Texas A&M. Still, this hasn’t stopped him from hearing other schools out, having visited USC in early November.

With the recent dismissal of former Aggie coach Jimbo Fisher, it raises speculation about Reliford’s reconsideration of other programs. LSU football, under Coach Kelly, would undoubtedly welcome such consideration.

Luckily for them, it looks to be trending in the right direction, as the four-star Texas A&M commit will be in Baton Rouge this weekend.

The timing is important to note in this situation. After the release of Jimbo Fisher, it was time for the Aggie program to look for a new head coach, and they found their guy in former Duke coach Mike Elko, announcing his hiring on November 26.

Additionally, with the regular season having come to an end on Saturday, the edge rusher out of Shreveport, LA will likely have the coaching staff’s undivided attention all weekend long.

Should Coach Brian Kelly capitalize on the ongoing transition in College Station, keeping the four-star Texas A&M commit in-state would be a substantial recruiting win over an SEC rival.
