After a weekend visit to Baton Rouge and LSU football, four-star edge rusher Gabriel Reliford swiftly decommitted from Texas A&M this evening. The class of 2024 standout also announced his intention to reveal his new commitment later this week, on December 9.

Four-star edge rusher Gabriel Reliford decommits from Texas A&M

Class of 2024 four-star edge rusher Gabriel Reliford announced his commitment to Texas A&M on June 27, seemingly solidifying his place in what was expected to be another outstanding Aggie recruiting class. However, coach Brian Kelly and the Tigers elected to make things interesting.

Just a month later, on July 26, Reliford received an offer from the LSU football program, prompting a subsequent official visit to Baton Rouge this past weekend.

Mere days following his visit, the prominent edge rusher has chosen to decommit from Texas A&M, re-opening his recruitment to prospects nationwide.

Standing at 6-foot-2, 255 pounds, the Shreveport, LA, recruit is one of the best player in-state, ranking No. 8. Moreover, he is widely recognized as one of the premier players nationwide, securing the No. 276 spot according to the 247 Sports Composite.

Quick turnaround commitment schedule

Typically, following a decommitment, recruits take their time before reaching a new decision. However, in the case of Gabriel Reliford, it appears he may have a swift resolution.

In addition to announcing his separation from the Aggies, he declared his intention to reveal his new commitment soon, pinpointing December 9 as the day to watch.

Although he didn’t specify any favorites, there is strong speculation that LSU and USC are potential destinations. Those were the two most recent visits that he’s taken, and shortly after announcing his decommitment, he posted two very specific photos from some recent trips.

Whether these two schools end up being his two finalists is yet to be seen, but we will soon know his final decision later this week. Tiger fans, mark your calendars; this could be a significant development if coach Brian Kelly successfully secures a commitment from the four-star edge rusher.
