That certainly didn’t take long. Earlier this week, former LSU football quarterback Max Johnson announced his decision to transfer away from Texas A&M. Now, just three days later, the two-year Aggie will take his talents to North Carolina for his fifth season of college football.

Former LSU football quarterback Max Johnson announces transfer to North Carolina

Former LSU football quarterback Max Johnson decided he’d seen enough of SEC football. After growing up in Athens, GA, attending two years at LSU and two years at Texas A&M, the class of 202o three-star has elected to transfer slightly north.

On Wednesday afternoon, Johnson announced that he would attend North Carolina for his fifth year football.

Despite struggling to take hold of a starting role for an extended period of time, former LSU football quarterback Max Johnson has experienced quite a productive career.

In total, the Georgia native has thrown the ball 784 times for 5,853 yards and 47 touchdowns compared to just 12 interceptions over the last four seasons.

Notably, his best season came with the Tigers under coach Ed Orgeron in 2021. The team struggled overall, but the now North Carolina quarterback threw the ball for 2,815 yards and 27 touchdowns while leading his team to an overall record of 6-7.

Barring any unforeseen factors, Johnson is likely heading up to the Tar Heels to take over for current star quarterback Drake Maye. Unfortunately for him, he’ll be stepping into some massive shoes. Over the last two seasons, the soon-to-be NFL quarterback has totaled 9,076 yards and 78 touchdowns.

Still, he’s a solid quarterback with plenty of experience and productivity over the course of his four seasons in college football. Now, we’ll just have to wait and see how he fares in the ACC.
