And then there were 11. After entering the NFL playoffs with 27 former LSU football players remaining, less than half are still in the hunt for the 2024 Super Bowl.

Eleven former Tigers remain in the hunt for a 2024 Super Bowl victory

The college football season may be over, but plenty of former LSU players have meaningful games remaining for them in 2024. Namely, 11 former Tigers are still in the race for the 2024 Super Bowl.

Entering the NFL playoffs this season, there were 27 total players remaining in the hunt, but Wildcard weekend was not kind to the purple and gold. As a matter of fact, five of the 11 teams with LSU representation were eliminated, leaving just six more.

The teams remaining with Tiger representatives are the Houston Texans, Baltimore Ravens, Kansas City Chiefs, Buffalo Bills, San Francisco 49ers and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. This leaves just the Detroit Lions and Green Bay Packers on the outside looking in.

Notably, with this spread, if an AFC team wins it all, a Tiger will be guaranteed to come away with a Super Bowl ring.

What and when to watch

First up on the NFL playoffs schedule is Houston Texans vs. Baltimore Ravens at 3:30 p.m. CST today, Saturday, January 20 on ABC. When thinking about former LSU players to watch, there’s no shortage in this matchup. Wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr and linebacker Patrick Queen are the players to keep an eye on for the Ravens, while defensive end Ali Gaye and cornerback Derek Stingley Jr represent the Texans.

Next up will be the Green Bay Packers vs. the San Francisco 49ers at 7:15 p.m. CST this evening on FOX. Looking out for former Tigers in this matchup will be a bit more challenging, but much simpler, as running back Ty Davis-Price is the sole purple and gold alum.

To kick things off on Sunday, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers will take on the Detroit Lions in a 2:00 p.m. CST matchup on NBC. For Tiger fans, keep your eyes focused on the Buccaneers, as wide receiver Russell Gage and linebacker Devin White are the only former LSU players in this one.

Finally, to end the weekend, we have the Kansas City Chiefs vs. the Buffalo Bills for a 5:30 p.m. CST kickoff on CBS. Once again, representation is abundant in this one and a Tiger will be guaranteed to move on to the next round. Running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire and defensive end Neil Farrell will make an appearance for the Chiefs, while long snapper Reid Ferguson and cornerback Tre’Davious White are on the Bills.
