It’s been a busy past couple of months in the world of college football recruiting, and while it hasn’t exactly slowed down by any means, we’re finally starting to reach official visit season for some of the top programs in the country, and LSU coach Matt McMahon is wasting no time in taking advantage of it. Among many other upcoming visitors is blue chip point guard Nyk Lewis, who’s notably expected to make the trip to Baton Rouge, LA, later this week.

While coach Matt McMahon is yet to land a single recruit in the class of 2025 recruiting cycle, official visit season is right around the corner, and there’s truly no saying what to expect once it finally arrives.

The Tigers are expected to host several of the top players in the country over the next few months leading into the fall, and barring any last minute changes, it appears that it’s all getting started this weekend. Earlier this month, Joe Tipton of On3 reported that blue chip point guard Nyk Lewis is scheduled to make the trip down to Baton Rouge from June 23 until June 25 and we’re officially just one week away.

Listed as a 6-foot-1, 190-pound point guard, Lewis rates as a four-star recruit and the No. 43 player nationally, according to On3. Additionally, sitting at No. 6 at his position, this has the potential to be one of the most pivotal recruitments of the 2025 recruiting cycle for the Tiger coaching staff.

A current standout for Gonzaga High School in Washington DC, Lewis possesses impressive aggressiveness and energy on both sides of the court, showing a willingness to attack the basket, regardless of who’s guarding him.

While he could certainly work on consistency from outside of the paint as a shooter, he’s shown the ability to get hot on occasion, making him a threat to score from just about anywhere. Additionally, even despite his smaller stature, he brings toughness to the floor each game, which should give him quite the advantage in finding early playing time at the college level.

Along with LSU, the blue chip point guard has already taken official visits with Oklahoma State (November 3, 2023), Marquette (November 11, 2023) and is set to make the trip to Xavier today. Furthermore, having received interest from many other top programs such as Georgetown, Michigan, Seton Hall and Tennessee, this recruitment has the potential to be far from over depending on how his upcoming visits ultimately go.
