Earlier today, the LSU basketball team announced its 2024 roster, and while at first everything appeared to be business as usual, there was one very notable addition, as LSU football signee Trey’Dez Green will also look to play a role on coach Matt McMahon’s team.

LSU football signee Trey’Dez Green could look to do two sports for the purple and gold

Trey’Dez Green is one of the top signees of the entire LSU football class of 2024 and figures to make an immediate impact on coach Brian Kelly’s offense this coming season. With that said, the football team might not be the only purple and gold program interested in having the 6-foot-7, 225-pound athlete on their team.

Earlier today, when the LSU basketball socials released this year’s preseason roster, by far the biggest thing of note was the presence of a No. 8 jersey accompanied by the last name “Green.” As it would turn out, this inclusion was none other than LSU football signee Trey’Dez Green out of Zachary, LA, who’s entering the 2024 college football season as a former five-star recruit, and the No. 31 player in the class of 2024, according to On3.

During his time at the high school ranks, Green took part in both football and basketball programs. On the hardwood, the talented dual-sport athlete helped to lead East Feliciana to a 22-9 record as a junior, bringing his team all the way to the Louisiana Division IV Non-Select state semifinals.

While officially listed as an unranked power forward on the basketball side of things, according to 247Sports, Green showed no issues in leaving his mark on the court thanks in large part to his impressive athleticism, allowing him to do just about anything he wants around the rim both on offense and defense.

While it’s largely unknown where Green will fit into coach Matt McMahon’s roster, the elite athlete figures to compete for reps in a competitive tight end room in 2024, as junior Mason Taylor and sophomores Mac Markway and Ka’Morreun Pimpton are all likely to play a role in the position room.
