Earlier today, the LSU football class of 2024 suffered a significant loss with the decommitment of four-star wide receiver Joseph Stone Jr. Still, the Tiger class remains one of the best in college football, with several other elite pass catchers.

Today, the LSU football class of 2024 lost a big-time playmaker. Four-star wide receiver Joseph Stone Jr has been committed to the Tigers for months now, dating back to early July.

However, for now, at least, that’s come to an end as he announced his decommitment earlier this afternoon.

Stone Jr is one of the better wide receivers in the class of 2024, so this is a big loss for the Tigers. According to 247 Sports Composite, he’s the No. 299 player in the country, the No. 46 wide receiver and the No. 35 player in Georgia.

The four-star wide receiver has 55 offers, including top programs such as Georgia, Florida State, Auburn, Texas and Penn State.

While it’s never ideal to lose a four-star recruit, the LSU football class of 2024 remains in excellent shape. The Tigers have three remaining wide receiver commits, all of which rate as a four-star or better.

The three receivers are Jelani Watkins, Kylan Billiot and Michael Turner, and they all boast various skills that add something different to the class as a whole.

Outside of wide receiver, the Tigers also still have claim to one of the best groups in the country. With 24 commitments, the LSU football recruiting class of 2024 sits at No. 10 in the country and fifth in the conference.

Coach Brian Kelly and his squad have found some serious momentum on the recruiting trail of late, so don’t be surprised to see one or two more pickups in this class.
