For many fans, SEC Media Days marks the start of the college football season, and we’ve finally arrived. In honor of the event, Brad Crawford of 247 Sports elected to project bowl games for each SEC team. For LSU football, he appears to be high on the Tigers, projecting them to a top New Year’s Six bowl.
A CFB analyst has projected LSU football to a New Year’s Six bowl
LSU football is widely viewed as one of the top programs in the country for 2023. For fans of the purple and gold, it would be a disappointment if they aren’t making an appearance in a New Year’s Six bowl. In fact, many have high hopes for a College Football Playoff appearance.
However, from a reasonable point of view, a New Year’s Six bowl would be a massive win for the Tigers. After all, Brian Kelly is only in his second season with LSU, and he’s already said that year three will be the season to watch.
Recently, in honor of SEC Media Days, Brad Crawford of 247 Sports took on the challenge of projecting the SEC bowl appearances.
Tiger fans will be thrilled to hear that he views LSU football as New Year’s Six-worthy, projecting them to the Cotton Bowl. He has Brian Kelly’s squad facing off against USC, who made that same bowl just one season ago.
Last year’s Cotton Bowl was one of the best games of the college football season. Tulane took down USC in what many viewed as a major upset.
It isn’t necessarily the best bowl game to appear in, but it’s undoubtedly one of the top options. If LSU football finds their way to it, it would likely mean another double-digit win season and an elite season for the Tigers.
Here is what Crawford had to say regarding his projection for LSU football:
“Back to the Cotton for USC, this time as Pac-12 champions? It’s a possibility. And if the Trojans can get through a treacherous slate unbeaten, they play in the conference title game with a Playoff berth on the line. Another potential double digit-win season for LSU is coming for Brian Kelly in Year 2, but we’re not putting this team in the Playoff just yet as the SEC champion. If the Tigers are able to get to Atlanta 12-0, however, they can get in the final four even with a loss to projected SEC champion Georgia.”
