The āBayou Splashā event in Baton Rouge is turning out to be quite the recruiting weekend. The Tigers will have several of the nationās top prospects on campus, providing an excellent opportunity for coach Brian Kelly. Today, Colin Simmons (edge rusher), a class of 2024 five-star top recruiting target for LSU football, announced heāll be on campus for the event.
Colin Simmons, a top recruiting target for LSU football, announces a late July visit
With 18 recruits already committed to the LSU football recruiting class, coach Brian Kelly can zero in on top targets. One of those top targets is none other than five-star edge rusher Colin Simmons.
The top recruiting target for LSU football is one of the best players in the country.Ā According to On3, heās the No. 4 player nationallyĀ and the No. 1 player in Texas. Heās the kind of recruit that can make an immediate impact at the college level.
While heās been trending towards Texas over the last month or so, LSU football has kept recruiting him. It was announced today that heāll be visiting Baton Rouge later this month.
In addition to his upcoming visit, the five-star has a visit scheduled for November 11, 2023. On that visit, heāll be able to see the Tigers face off against the Florida Gators in what should be an electric atmosphere.
Simmons recently hinted at a commitment date announcement
This announcement couldnāt have come at a better time for LSU football fans. The Tigers have recently received news of several top recruits in the classes of 2024 and 2025 setting their sights on a visit for that weekend.
Furthermore, the Simmons himself teased a commitment date announcement just yesterday. While he didnāt give much regarding when the announcement would come, itās safe to assume his college decision should be on the way in the next few months.
For coach Brian Kelly and the overall LSU football class of 2024, this is one of the most important recruitments left. There are still several top recruits that the Tigers are going after. If they can land a commitment from Simmons, it would be a huge win and could lead to several other commitments soon after.
