Spring football is officially in full force, and with that, we also have a new 2024 LSU spring roster. Among several updates of note include the addition of more than 20 new Tigers through both recruiting and the transfer portal. Here’s a look at some of the new additions and their numbers as a part of the purple and gold.

Transfer portal

Once again, it’s been a largely successful transfer portal cycle for coach Brian Kelly and the Tigers. Bringing in six new players, including three defensive backs, LSU football was able to both fill some holes within the depth chart and add immediate impact talent in all phases of the game.

While coach Brian Kelly hasn’t yet expressed interest in pursuing any post-spring additions, it will be curious to see if any movement occurs later this season, particularly when it comes to the defensive line and running back position rooms.

  • 4 – WR CJ Daniels | 6-2 | 200 lbs | Graduate Student
  • 11 – WR Zavion Thomas | 5-10 | 194 lbs | Junior
  • 14 – S Jardin Gilbert | 6-1 | 197 lbs | Redshirt Junior
  • 15 – QB AJ Swann | 6-2 | 229 lbs | Junior
  • 17 – CB Jyaire Brown | 5-11 | 177 lbs | Junior
  • 36 – S Austin Ausberry | 6-0 | 195 lbs | Redshirt Sophomore

Early enrollees

With 16 early enrollees already on campus and working out with the team, there’s some serious potential within the LSU football recruiting class of 2024 as far as early playing time goes.

This spring will not only provide the new faces an opportunity to fill out their frames in a college weight room, but they’ll also be gaining a head start on learning the playbooks for next fall.

The Tigers are welcoming in three new defensive backs in this group, two of which are rated as a four-star or better and could be in the running for starting snaps down the line.

  • 10 – S Dashawn McBryde | 6-3 | 202 lbs
  • 16 – QB Colin Hurley | 6-1 | 212 lbs
  • 19 – DE Gabriel Reliford | 6-2 | 268 lbs
  • 22 – S Joel Rogers | 6-0 | 195 lbs
  • 27 – CB PJ Woodland | 5-11 | 160 lbs
  • 42 – LB Davhon Keys | 6-0 | 226 lbs
  • 46 – LB Tylen Singleton | 6-1 | 206 lbs
  • 48 – LB Kolaj Cobbins | 6-2 | 219 lbs
  • 55 – OL Khayree Lee Jr | 6-6 | 310 lbs
  • 73 – OT Ethan Calloway | 6-7 | 322 lbs
  • 77 – OL Jo Cryer | 6-3 | 316 lbs
  • 78 – OL Coen Echols | 6-3 | 310 lbs
  • 93 – DE Ahmad Breaux | 6-3 | 258 lbs
  • 95 – DT Shone Washington | 6-4 | 290 lbs
  • 96 – DT De’Myrion Johnson | 6-1 | 294 lbs

Today marked the first of 15 spring practices for the Tigers over the next two months, which will conclude with the 2024 National L Club Spring Game on April 13. Barring any adjustments from last year’s schedule, the scrimmage conclusion will also be available to the general public.
