As we continue to look ahead to the soon-to-be released EA Sports College Football 25 video game, EA has in turn continued its “rankings week showcase.” Having already revealed their list of toughest places to play earlier this week, they’ve now moved onto the teams themselves, most recently listing quarterback Garrett Nussmeier and the 2024 LSU football offense as one of the 10 best offensive units in the country.

One of the biggest question marks surrounding coach Brian Kelly’s squad in 2024 is a matter of how they can replace all their lost production on the offensive side of the ball.

While they technically had just four of their eleven starters leave the program over the offseason, it’s vastly important to keep in mind who exactly those starters were. With quarterback Jayden Daniels (2023 Heisman Trophy winner), wide receiver Brian Thomas Jr (2023 national leader in touchdown receptions), wide receiver Malik Nabers (all-time LSU leader in receptions and receiving yards) and center Charles Turner III (26-game starter) all making the jump to the NFL, plenty of star power is no longer with the team.

Interestingly enough, even despite the significant losses, there’s still an aura of confidence surrounding the group as a whole, and quarterback Garrett Nussmeier is a major reason for it. With occasional starting experience, the new leading quarterback for the Tigers is largely viewed as one of the top signal callers in the country, and it would appear that EA Sports would agree with that sentiment, revealing the purple and gold as having one of the top-10 offenses in the entire country.

Landing at No. 6 overall with a rating of 89, the video gaming company pretty clearly has confidence in the group, even despite the unknown. With four returning starters along the offensive line and two proven running backs to utilize it, the run-game should be largely improved heading into the new year.

Additionally, with a passing game that features a gun slinger like quarterback Garrett Nussmeier and plenty of speed on the outside with veteran wide receivers Kyren Lacy, Chris Hilton Jr and Aaron Anderson, explosive plays won’t be hard to come by.

According to the ratings, EA Sports expects the LSU offense to be on par with some of the best in the country, sharing the 89 overall with Ohio State (No. 5), Miami (No. 7), Colorado (No. 8) and Missouri (No. 9). Furthermore, with three of the top-four offenses nationally residing in the SEC, we could see some high-scoring affairs during the 2024 season.
