Earlier this week, elite class of 2026 quarterback Faizon Brandon announced that he would make his final college decision later this summer. Just a few days later, we now know that LSU football is right among the list of his top contenders as he most recently included the Tigers in his top-four.

There’s little doubt that LSU football should be set at quarterback well into the near future thanks in large part to a series of blue chip commitments from class of 2023 Rickie Collins, class of 2024 Colin Hurley and class of 2025 Bryce Underwood.

With that said, depth is by far one of the most important things in college football, and coach Brian Kelly is clearly intent on developing as much as he possibly can.

As we look ahead to the class of 2026, for the second year in a row, the top quarterback nationally is the top overall recruit, and LSU is once again among the top schools in contention. Earlier this week, talented quarterback Faizon Brandon released his top-four, which included Alabama, LSU, NC State and Tennessee.

Running as the No. 1 overall recruit in the country, according to 247Sports, Brandon is officially listed at 6-foot-4, 195 pounds and already looks like a future star at the college level.

As a sophomore for Grimsley High School in 2023, the class of 2026 five-star quarterback posted a 13-1 record, bringing his team to the North Carolina 4A quarterfinals. With it being his first year as a full-time starter, the talented signal caller still managed to dominate in an incredibly efficient manner, completing 69 percent of his passes en route to 3,026 yards, 36 touchdowns and just three interceptions through the air, while adding 528 yards and nine touchdowns on the ground.

Alabama and Tennessee have long looked like the favorites to eventually land Brandon’s commitment, but with the Tigers at least making his top-four, there’s still plenty of time for them to potentially make a move before his August 3rd college decision.

The LSU football class of 2026 currently sits at No. 12 nationally with two total commitments, as four-star defensive lineman Richard Anderson and three-star athlete Jakai Anderson announced their pledges just last week. It’s still early, but don’t be surprised to see some more moving pieces in the recruiting cycle before summer comes to a close.
