The Tiger recruiting class of 2025 has been the talk of Baton Rouge for much of the past few weeks. With the landing of several top recruits, it’s been for good reason too. However, after his performances last week at the Under Armour All-America practices, Louisiana defensive lineman and class of 2024 LSU commit Dominick McKinley is pushing for quite a bit of attention himself.

Top class of 2024 LSU commit Dominick McKinley showed out at Under Armour All-America practices

There was never any denying the talent of class of 2024 LSU commit Dominick McKinley. However, if there were any doubts about the star Louisiana defensive lineman, he went ahead and shut any down this past week at Under Armour All-America practices.

On Wednesday, January 3, 2024, the annual Under Armour All-America Bowl took place in Camping World Stadium in Orlando. While McKinley saw his fair share of snaps throughout the game, it was in practices the week prior that the five-star recruit really began to leave his mark on the recruiting class.

Ranking as the top recruit in Louisiana, as well as the No. 31 player nationally, according to 247Sports, the Acadiana High School product already looks college ready, despite being in the midst of his senior year. Standing at 6-foot-5, 290 pounds, few players in the country match up to him physically.

Add in his exceptional movement and overall flexibility as a defensive lineman, and he’s been nearly impossible to stop over the last few years. When watching his practices leading up to the Under Armour All-America game, it was particularly encouraging to see these traits continue to shine against some of the best competition in the country.

Stock is continuing to rise for the Louisiana defensive lineman

For Dominick McKinley, this is nothing new for him. If anything, this was just an opportunity for some of the country’s top scouts to get a good look at the stellar defensive lineman.

In turn, even with him already being rated as a five-star, don’t be surprised to see him continue to climb in rankings over the coming months. Earlier this week, Charles Power and Cody Bellaire broke down a list of the biggest stock risers following the game, and right at the top was the class of 2024 LSU commit.

“Even though he already ranks inside the top 40 for of the On300, Dominick McKinley proved to be a ‘stock up’ prospect over the course of the week at Under Armour,” Director of Rankings and Scouting, Charles Power said about the big-time class of 2024 defensive lineman“The new LSU pledge was the top defensive lineman throughout practices, stacking consistent performances that included many of the best individual reps we saw at the position over the course of the week.

“At 6-foot-5, 290 pounds with plus length, McKinley touts advanced flexibility and movement skills. His ability to play low at his size makes for a big-time mismatch on the interior. Additionally, the Lafayette (La.) Acadiana product is far from tapped out and has room for continued improvement once he gets to the college level.”

While the Lafayette, LA, native isn’t officially signed to the Tiger class of 2024, if LSU can bring him home to Baton Rouge next season, don’t be surprised to see him get on the field early and often. While coach Brian Kelly isn’t exactly known for playing true freshmen, Dominick McKinley has the kind of talent that should put him in the rotation relatively quickly.
