The 2024-25 LSU basketball season may still be six months away, but that doesnât mean itâs too early to start looking into what fans can expect to see from their team. Earlier this afternoon, the SEC announced the home and away in-conference opponents for the Tiger schedule, which notably includes multiple new faces to the list.
SEC announces full home and away opponents for 2024-25 LSU basketball season
Well, itâs not exactly time to start marking your calendars, but weâre at least getting close. Earlier this afternoon, the SEC announced the home and away in-conference opponents for the 2024-25 LSU basketball schedule, and right away, there are plenty of notable matchups to keep a close eye on as the season slowly approaches.
With the new 16-team conference coming into play during the coming school year, Texas and Oklahoma are officially making their debuts as SEC opponents. In turn, the purple and gold will be getting a close look at both, as Texas will be coming to Baton Rouge while Oklahoma is set to host the Tigers.
While LSU basketball most recently fell against the Longhorns this past season 85-96, this year will be the first time theyâve faced off against the Sooners since January of 2016.
Also of note, coach Matt McMahon and his squad will play three different home and away series. While Arkansas and Texas A&M remain as permanent opponents, Ole Miss will be taking the third slot.
LSU will be looking to show improvement within their 2024-25 SEC schedule, coming off a 9-9 record in-conference to go along with a 17-16 record overall. Coach McMahon has already expressed interest in making the NCAA Tournament this coming season, so if they want any chance at making it happen, a solid performance during the back half of the year will be key.
While we donât yet know times or dates of these specific matchups, expect them to be announced later this offseason.
