LSU football currently sits at 5-2, and the offense has been one of the main reasons that they’ve been able to win so many games. More specifically, quarterback Jayden Daniels has been electric through 2023, and coach Brian Kelly recently spoke about how his positivity plays a major role in keeping the team together.

Quarterback Jayden Daniels is a football guy, pure and simple

Heading into the 2023 LSU football season, the Tiger fanbase was essentially split in half on the quarterback situation. Many wanted redshirt sophomore Garrett Nussmeier to start, while others wanted to stick with senior Jayden Daniels.

However, heading into week eight of the 2023 season, it’s safe to say Daniels has won over the fanbase.

Through seven games, the senior quarterback has put up 2,294 yards and a career-high 22 touchdowns, compared to just three interceptions. As good as that is, his leadership and positive mentality might be the most important thing for the Tiger offense.

“I think he’s been that way since he got here. He’s a guy with a great mindset, great outlook, loves to play the game, loves to be around his teammates,” said coach Brian Kelly on Thursday.

You can put up all the stats in the world, but you need a solid leader to keep an offense moving the way LSU football has so far.

“He’s a guy that doesn’t get too high, doesn’t get too low,” Kelly continued. “And since he’s gotten here, I think he’s handled himself with that positive demeanor, whether it’s been good or bad. So, I think he’s been really consistent and been a positive piece to what we’re doing since he got here.”

Looking back on the start of the season, it’s hard to imagine a better man to run the Tiger offense. More importantly, the team loves playing with him, and his coach loves coaching him.
