With less than two weeks remaining until the start of the 2024 LSU football season, offensive tackle Will Campbell and linebacker Harold Perkins Jr were recently honored with selections to the AP Preseason All-American team.

Junior offensive tackle Will Campbell leads an elite LSU offensive line into the 2024 campaign

The LSU offense enters the 2024 season with plenty to prove after losing the wide majority of their 2023 production to the 2024 NFL Draft.

In turn, any returning production is going to be greatly appreciated, and that means that plenty of eyes are set to be focused on the Tiger offensive line, which returns four of their five starters, including star offensive tackles Will Campbell and Emery Jones Jr, who are each entering year-three of starting status.

While both are expected to be two of the very best tackles in the country, Campbell in particular is garnering some serious attention, most recently receiving praise as a first team AP Preseason All-American.

After being named team captain as a sophomore in 2023, Campbell is officially an upperclassman, and is already being looked at as one of the top players in college football, regardless of position.

Standing at 6-foot-6, 323 pounds, he has truly elite strength, but is particularly impressive from an athleticism standpoint, having been tasked with keeping up with speedy quarterback Jayden Daniels over the last two seasons.

With 1,687 snaps of experience entering the 2024 campaign, Campbell is on a 15-game streak without having allowed a sack, which bodes well for new starting quarterback Garrett Nussmeier, who tends to stand in the pocket a bit longer than his predecessor.

Expect big things from the talented junior as he looks to continue his dominant career as a part of the purple and gold en route to eventually being picked as one of the top selections in the upcoming NFL draft.

Junior linebacker Harold Perkins Jr once again faces big-time expectations with AP Preseason All-American selection

Yet another star junior on this year’s LSU football roster, Harold Perkins Jr came in with some lofty expectations, and they certainly haven’t gone away as we prepare for his third season as a part of the purple and gold.

In his first two seasons as a Tiger, the star linebacker has recorded an impressive total of 147 tackles, 26 tackles for loss, 13 sacks, seven forced fumbles, nine pass deflections and two interceptions.

In short? He does everything for the LSU football defense, and in a year that they’re looking to show some serious improvement, Perkins Jr is set to be one of the biggest keys to how this season ultimately goes for coach Brian Kelly’s squad.

Lucky for fans of the program, the Associated Press appears to be fairly confident that said step in the right direction may just happen, as they most recently included the 6-foot-1, 225-pound New Orleans product as a first team AP Preseason All-American.

In many ways, the honor shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise, especially when you consider the fact that he finished his freshman season as a 2022 Freshman All-American and followed suit by making the 2023 second-team All-SEC team as a sophomore.

We’re officially just 11 days away from the start of the 2024 LSU football season, as they’ll open the year against No. 23 USC on Sunday, September 1, at 6:30 p.m. CST in Las Vegas, NV. Already, the game is shaping up to be one of the top matchups of the entire season for either team, and will air live on ABC and ESPN+ as the lone college football matchup of the day.
