Winter training is continuing to progress for the Tiger football program, providing offseason opportunities for players to build up athleticism ahead of the 2024 season. While there have been several standouts early on, it appears that LSU true freshman offensive lineman Tyree Adams had a particularly impressive week, earning āFreak of the Weekā today.
LSU true freshman offensive lineman earns āFreak of the Weekā
More often than not, offseason work is when you really start to see players standout amongst their peers. You can work as hard you want during the season, but itās often the strength and agility training in the winter and summer that makes the difference.
One week ago today, senior defensive lineman Paris Shand was named āFreak of the Weekā after putting together an impressive week of work during Tiger winter training. Now, as another week has gone by, the torch has officially been passed down.
Today, LSU true freshman offensive lineman Tyree Adams was revealed as this weekās honoree.
A four-star recruit coming out of high school, Adams ranked among the best in Louisiana, finishing at No. 12 in-state, according to 247Sports, as well as No. 22 among offensive tackles nationally.
Standing at 6-foot-7, 285 pounds right around a year ago, he possessed an elite frame, but had plenty of room to add weight. Now, after one full season of college training, heās done exactly that, being listed at 300 pounds, per the official LSUsports website.
After being awarded āFreak of the Weekā today, it appears that heās continuing his momentum, filling out what could very well be a future NFL body ahead of his sophomore season.
2024 outlook for Tyree Adams
After making just one game appearance through the 2023 campaign, itās unlikely that Tyree Adams earns a starting role this coming season. Important to note is that this isnāt due to a fault of his own, but rather there are simply too many elite athletes ahead of him on the depth chart for the time being.
Both Will Campbell and Emery Jones Jr will be heading into their junior seasons in 2024, and with two seasons of starting experience already, theyāre unlikely to lose those spots anytime soon. Still, in the off-chance that an injury occurs, the LSU true freshman offensive lineman is setting himself up to be one of the first players off the bench.
With the way things are trending for the Tiger offensive line, it seems as though 2025 will be the year to watch for the New Orleans, LA, product. If he keeps working the way he has, thereās significant potential to be an easy plug-and-play once the two Tiger starters make their way to the NFL.
