It’s been a largely quiet past few weeks for the Tigers as far as the transfer portal goes throughout spring thus far. However, we’re finally starting to see some movement, as talented LSU football freshman edge rusher Jaxon Howard has officially informed the coaching staff that he’ll be entering the transfer portal.

Coming out of high school as a four-star Minnesota-based edge rusher, Jaxon Howard had some of the best potential in the entire Tiger class of 2023. In turn, he found his way to the field several times throughout the 2023 season as a true freshman, even despite the veteran filled defensive line room.

Unfortunately, it might not have been enough to keep him in Baton Rouge, and as of today, the talented LSU football freshman has informed the coaching staff that he’s elected to enter the spring transfer portal to look for a new home.

Rated as a four-star recruit and the No. 131 player in the 2023 recruiting cycle, Jaxon made five appearances for the purple and gold as a true freshman, recording two total tackles on the year.

Notably, since the start of the 2024 calendar year, Howard has been turning heads just about everywhere he goes. With a solid showing vs. Wisconsin in the ReliaQuest Bowl and a good overall performance during spring football, the 6-foot-4, 241-pound edge rusher’s stock is about as high as it’s been since he first entered the college ranks.

If Howard does indeed follow through and enter the transfer portal once the spring window opens on April 15, he will be the 18th Tiger to leave the program since early December, joining fellow freshmen Lance Heard (offensive tackle), Jalen Brown (wide receiver) and Jackson McGohan (tight end).
