Game day has finally arrived, and LSU football vs. Georgia State is officially less than 12 hours away. Ahead of the rapidly approaching matchup, Jontrey Hunter, Marcus Carroll and Gavin Pringle are three players to know on the Panther roster.
LSU football vs. Georgia State: Three Panthers to know
Senior LB Jontrey Hunter
A āwho to knowā list for the Georgia State football team wouldnāt be complete without do-it-all senior linebacker Jontrey Hunter. The 6-foot-2, 240-pound defender is a fantastic all-around player who can rush the passer or drop back to guard wide receivers downfield.
Notably, heās in his sixth season with the program, showing an almost shocking amount of experience.
Throughout his career, heās recordedĀ 215 tackles, seven passes defended, 5.5 sacks, six forced fumbles and three interceptions. While those numbers are, without a doubt, impressive, heās in the midst of by far his best season yet.
The 6th-year senior is a name to look out for as coach Brian Kelly and the Tiger offense continue its momentum to the end of the season.
Senior RB Marcus Carroll
The Panther offense goes through running back Marcus Carroll. The star senior is in his fourth season with Georgia State and is having a career year, having carried the ballĀ 244 times for 1,206 yards and 12 touchdowns in 2023.
A large portion of the offensive game plan for coach Shawn Elliott is to get the running game going to make room for some play-action passing.
If the Tigers hope to slow them down, it all starts with Maason Smith, Jordan Jefferson and the other big men up front. Keep an eye on No. 23 as they inevitably look to feed him the rock all evening.
Senior CB Gavin Pringle
If anyone on the Georgia State defense can potentially slow down LSU football quarterback Jayden Daniels and the potent Tiger offense, itās cornerback Gavin Pringle.
Yet another impact senior, Pringle is in the midst of his first season with the program but wasted no time making an impact. Through 10 games, the 5-foot-11, 167-pound Maryland native has recorded 34 tackles, three passes defended, three interceptions and 1.5 sacks.
Pringle has plenty of big-play capability, so the Tiger wide receivers could have their hands full trying to get space on him. Keep an eye out for him, as he likely looks to catch coach Brian Kelly and the LSU football team by surprise.
LSU football vs. Georgia State will take place this evening at 7:00 p.m. CST in Tiger Stadium, Baton Rouge, LA. Fans can watch the game live from home on ESPN2.
