While LSU football boasts an abundance of skill-position talent on the 2023 roster, the potential departure of several players this offseason may prompt portal additions. One notable prospect in consideration is SEC wide receiver transfer Zavion Thomas, who previously played for Mississippi State from 2022-23.

Few players can genuinely claim the title of “do-it-all” for their team. However, in the case of SEC wide receiver transfer Zavion Thomas, that has been his role since arriving at Mississippi State in 2022.

Over two seasons with the Bulldogs, Thomas accumulated 504 receiving yards, 23 rushing yards, 365 punt return yards, and 297 kick return yards. Adding to his versatility, he also found the endzone three times.

Following a change in head coaching, the Marrero, LA, native has chosen to enter the transfer portal, sparking speculation that LSU football might emerge as a potential destination.

As soon as the SEC wide receiver transfer hit the portal, Tiger fans from all over immediately began anxiously awaiting his final decision. Not only is he from Louisiana, but he was also one of the top players in-state in the class of 2022, ranking No. 17.

As of yesterday, indications suggest a favorable outcome for the purple and gold. Shea Dixon of On3 recently issued an expert prediction in favor of Coach Brian Kelly and his team.

Should the speedy wide receiver from Mississippi State elect to come home and play for LSU, the potential impact extends to both offense and special teams. With Malik Nabers and Brian Thomas Jr likely departing for the NFL this offseason, keep an eye on Zavion Thomas as a potentially new star wide receiver for the Tigers.
