After landing their first defensive line commitment of the class of 2025 just yesterday, we now know that this was only just the beginning. Earlier today, LSU football snagged their second defensive lineman in as many days, with Brandon Brown making the flip from Texas over to the Tigers.
LSU football snags second class of 2025 defensive line commitment in as many days
It’s been a good two days for the LSU football recruiting staff, particularly when it comes to the class of 2025 defensive line group.
Just yesterday, Texas-based big man Zion Williams elected to join the group, becoming just the first defensive line commitment for the purple and gold in the current recruiting cycle.
Now, just one day later, that number has officially doubled, as Brandon Brown – formerly committed to Texas – has elected to switch over to another SEC program and will soon make his way to Baton Rouge, LA, for his future home.
Listed as a 6-foot-1, 290-pound defensive lineman, Brown is rated as a four-star recruit, and the No. 218 player nationally, according to On3. Furthermore, sitting at No. 20 at his position, he has some fantastic potential looking ahead to his future under defensive coordinator Blake Baker and defensive line coach Bo Davis.
In three seasons with Eau Gallie High School, the Melbourne, FL, product has found a way to make an impact each year, recording a total of 155 tackles, 48 tackles for loss, 14.5 sacks, four forced fumbles, four pass deflections and even one fumble recovery. In turn, thanks to his high-motor and eye-popping production, he’s received interest from several of the top programs nationally such as Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Miami, Michigan, Tennessee, Texas, Texas A&M and USC.
With today’s commitment in the books, the LSU class of 2025 now ranks No. 5 nationally, as well as No. 3 in-conference with 14 total commitments. Possibly even more encouraging is the fact that this was their fifth defensive commitment of the cycle, showing just how much momentum the coaching staff has on their side as we look ahead to the 2024 season.
