Sometimes, it’s just best to stick to the classics. This is especially true in 2023, an era of college football when things are constantly changing. Today, LSU football revealed it will be sticking with old reliable for its uniform combination ahead of week one versus Florida State.

LSU football reveals they’ll be keeping the classic look for their week one matchup versus Florida State

One of the most iconic jersey color combinations in college football is that of LSU football. When you see the purple and gold Tigers, there’s one school you associate it with, and for many fans, it invokes quite a variety of emotions.

Even within the new Brian Kelly era, he’s shown no hesitation in continuing some of the best LSU football traditions.

Last week, the Tigers announced who will don the legendary No. 7 and No. 18 jerseys. Junior defensive tackle Mekhi Wingo will wear 18, while sophomore offensive tackle Will Campbell earned seven.

Now, he’s continuing his trend of honoring traditions, as the Tigers will wear their classic away uniform in the 2023 week one season opener versus Florida State.

LSU football had a largely successful season in 2022. The Tigers won 10 games in coach Brian Kelly’s premier season in Baton Rouge, adding a win over rival Alabama in the process.

However, amongst all that success were some disappointing moments. Namely, the Tigers lost last season’s season opener versus the Seminoles in heartbreaking fashion. They lost 24-23 following a last-second blocked extra-point attempt, which would have sent the game into overtime.

There’s no doubt that the team is looking to make up for last year’s shortcoming and leave Orlando with a victory.

If they’re able to beat Florida State, not only will they have beaten a top-10 team, but they will have looked good while doing it. You can catch the Tigers in their classic gold-white-gold away uniform this Sunday at 6:30 p.m. CST.
