LSU football recruiting: Tigers make top nine for elite 4-star safety

When it comes to LSU football recruiting, the Tigers and Brian Kelly have been on fire of late. Most recently, the Tigers have received commitments from multiple transfer portal targets, along with a defensive back out of Louisiana. LSU football is in a good position again as four-star safety Ricardo Jones put the Tigers in his top-nine schools.

Regarding top recruits from the Southeastern United States, LSU football recruiting consistently competes with the best of the best. This trend has continued as four-star safety Ricardo Jones included the Tigers in his top-nine schools.

Jones is listed No. 123 overall in the class of 2024 and the No. 10 safety. He also happens to be one of the best in the state of Georgia, coming in as the No. 21 prospect in the state per 247Sports.

The 6-foot-3, 200-pound prospect could be an immediate impact player in the Tigers’ defensive backfield. In 2023, safety is a position that LSU football severely lacks depth in. This is precisely why they’ve been adamantly targeting defensive back in both the transfer portal and recruiting.

According to On3, the Auburn Tigers are the favorites to earn Jones’ commitment. Still, it’s early in the recruiting cycle, and if coach Brian Kelly can put together another big season, don’t be surprised to see things swing toward Baton Rouge in a big way.
