LSU football recruiting making a strong push for top-100 Indiana-based edge rusher
The Tigers are in the process of making quite the statement with their recruiting class of 2025. Currently sitting at 10 commitments thus far, LSU has claim to the No. 1 group in the country, as all 10 rate as a four-star recruit or higher.
With that said, the class isnāt without holes. Right now, the only defensive pledges are from linebackers Keylan Moses and Charles Ross, as well as cornerback Jaboree Antoine.
Still, with the way Blake Baker and the entire defensive coaching staff has been going about things, this shouldnāt last long. Most recently, LSU was named as one of 12 contenders for elite edge rusher Damien Shanklin.
Along with the Tigers, the four-star included Cincinnati, Miami, Michigan, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Oregon, Tennessee, Texas, Texas A&M, USC and Washington as the remainder of his top-12.
Listed as a 6-foot-4, 230-pound edge rusher out of Indianapolis, IN, Shanklin already has the makings to be one of the top players in the country by the time things are all said and done.
According to 247Sports, the Warren Central High School standout ranks No. 47 nationally, as well as No. 1 within the state of Indiana.
Shanklin possesses long arms and a solid combination of overall strength and speed, allowing for an assortment of moves to help him get to the quarterback. Additionally, being a stellar discus thrower, heās a multi-sport athlete who could boost the overall athleticism of any college program he ends up with.
Right now, Notre Dame looks like the early favorite for the Indiana-based edge rusher, but he also recently made visits to Ohio State, Tennessee and Texas. With him only releasing a top-12, a final decision isnāt exactly expected anytime soon, allowing the Tigers time to continue building on their recent February offer.
