Already possessing pledges from three No. 1 overall positional players in the class of 2025, LSU football recruiting doesn’t appear to be done yet, most recently finding itself trending for elite five-star safety Jonah Williams out of Galveston, TX.

LSU head coach Brian Kelly went into the recruiting class of 2025 as a man on a mission, and thus far, it couldn’t have paid off any better.

Possessing the current No. 3 group nationally with 18 commitments and a shocking three No. 1 positional players, the future is certainly looking bright for the purple and gold.

With all of that said, national signing day isn’t for another half year, and the Tigers aren’t even close to being done. Several of the nation’s top five-star recruits are still fairly high on the program, and coach Kelly’s squad has now even found itself trending for yet another No. 1 positional recruit, with On3 recruiting expert Billy Embody projecting elite Texas-based safety Jonah Williams to eventually land in Baton Rouge, LA.

Officially listed as a 6-foot-3, 206-pound defender out of Galveston, TX, Williams has one of the more unique skill sets in the entire class of 2025, having the speed, athleticism and physicality to play either safety or linebacker at a high-level for whichever college program he ultimately ends up with.

Totaling more than 20 offers, the five-star recruit had the potential to go to just about any school he were to choose, but with football season quickly approaching, he most recently elected to not only narrow his list of contenders, but even set his final commitment date.

As of earlier this afternoon, Williams is now preparing to make his final decision between LSU, Oregon, Texas, Texas A&M and USC on August 24.

As if his ability on the gridiron weren’t enough for the top programs nationally to come calling, the star safety also happens to be a dual-sport athlete with the chance to play both football and baseball at the next level. With that, Brian Kelly hasn’t been the only Tiger head coach making a strong push, as Jay Johnson of LSU baseball has certainly put in the work to sway things towards the purple and gold.

In 2023, Williams found his way into playing just about every position for Ball High School, recording 618 yards and 10 touchdowns in just 22 touches on offense, while logging 58 tackles, four tackles for loss, four interceptions, three interceptions for touchdowns on defense and four more touchdowns on special teams.

In short, Williams is one of the freakiest high school athletes we’ve seen in recent memory, and he’s going to make an excellent addition to any program that’s fortunate enough to land him. For now, it’s just a matter of waiting to see if that program ends up being LSU football recruiting.
