The LSU football versus Alabama rivalry is alive and well. Following an instant classic of a game in 2022, the Tigers and Crimson Tide have done plenty of battling in the offseason through the world of recruiting. On Sunday, the Tigers offered class of 2024 offensive line recruit William Sanders, who is widely viewed as an Alabama lean – for now.

LSU football offers three-star offensive line recruit William Sanders

LSU football has one of the best recruiting classes in the country for the class of 2024. With that being said, there are some definite holes present in it still.

Of note, the Tigers have just one offensive line commitment in their entire class. For coach Brian Kelly, that isn’t normal. He’s always emphasized the offensive line, so you can expect the Tigers to put in significant work in that aspect.

On Sunday, Kelly and the LSU football team took a shot at Alabama. They offered offensive line recruit William Sanders, who appears to be an Alabama lead.

Sanders is rated as a three-star recruit, per 247 Sports, and is the No. 814 player in the country. He also stands as the No. 55 inside offensive lineman. While his rankings aren’t particularly eye-popping, he’s a highly sought-after recruit, boasting offers from several SEC schools.

If the Tigers can secure his commitment, it would be huge for Brian Kelly and the Tigers. Not only would he be their second offensive line commit, but they will have stolen a recruit straight out of Alabama’s backyard.

Are the Tigers catching Alabama in recruiting?

When it comes to winning on the field, you also need to find success off the field. That’s one of the biggest reasons for Nick Saban and Alabama football’s winning ways over the years.

However, it appears there are some other teams ready to take over, and LSU football could be one. In the past, if Alabama offered a recruit, it’s been a guarantee that the recruit would ultimately choose the Crimson Tide.

That’s why it’s so notable that Alabama currently ranks No. 12 overall in the recruiting rankings. While it’s still early, their eight total commitments are surprisingly low.

For the sake of comparison, LSU football sits with 16 total commits and is the No. 5 class in the country. Ultimately, Alabama will likely get plenty of commitments over the next few months and should be at the top of the rankings as usual.

Still, it’s refreshing to see other programs taking some wins in the recruiting world. Will this continue? No one truly knows, but in the meantime, Tigers fans can enjoy the success they’re having over the Crimson Tide.
