One of the deepest tight end rooms in college football just lost a member. Today, LSU football freshman tight end Jackson McGohan entered his name in the transfer portal, joining several others leaving the program, including cornerback Laterrance Welch and running backs Tre Bradford and Armoni Goodwin.

Headlined by sophomore Mason Taylor as the prominent starter, LSU football’s tight end lineup featured one of the youngest groups in the nation as they entered the 2023 season.

In the case of the freshman tight ends, Ka’Morreun Pimpton and Mac Markway both made contributions, each recording at least one reception. However, Jackson McGohan faced challenges in earning significant playing time.

Today, the former three-star recruit has entered his name into the transfer portal.

Out of high school, McGohan exhibited considerable potential, showcasing consistent skills in both blocking and receiving. He held a notable position among tight ends, ranking at No. 25 in the class of 2023 and securing the No. 14 spot in the state of Ohio.

As the 2024 season approaches, the 6-foot-4, 235-pound freshman from Miamisburg, OH, will head to a new school with three years of eligibility remaining.

Despite the transfer portal loss, the Tigers should still boast one of the better tight end groups in the country next season. Noteworthy names to watch include Mason Taylor, Ka’Morreun Pimpton, Mac Markway, Connor Gilbreath, and incoming freshman Trey’Dez Green.
