From 2007-2009, Florida quarterback Tim Tebow was the talk of the town in college football. Now, in 2023, LSU football signal-caller Jayden Daniels has taken over. Earlier today, the former SEC star gave his thoughts on the 2023 Heisman Trophy race.

No player in college football has outperformed quarterback Jayden Daniels. The LSU football star leads the nation in several statistics, including total yards (4,946), yards per pass (11.7) and quarterback rushing yards (1,134).

In many ways, his ability to challenge defenses with both his arm and legs reflects that of former college football stars, such as Robert Griffin III, Tim Tebow, and Lamar Jackson.

One of said former stars, Tim Tebow, went on national television earlier today to share his thoughts, and had some excellent things to say about the Tiger signal caller.

“Jayden Daniels has been absolutely ridiculous with his arm, with his legs, but then another thing that stands out is with his heart,” he began while speaking on ESPN. “Some of his best moments has also been when he has been nicked up and I think that’s something else that all the voters need to keep in mind.”

The 2023 Heisman Trophy race is far from over, but things are definitely leaning toward purple and gold. According to DraftKings, the Tiger quarterback is the far and away favorite (-1200), while Washington’s Michael Penix Jr (+900) and Oregon’s Bo Nix (+1500) are distant contenders.

In four seasons as a Florida Gator, quarterback Tim Tebow recorded a total of 12,232 yards and 145 touchdowns. For the sake of comparison, in just two seasons with LSU football, Jayden Daniels has 8,744 yards and 78 touchdowns.

If the fifth-year signal-caller manages to win the award, he would become the 19th quarterback, 9th SEC player, and 2nd Tiger to earn it since 2000.
