In the world of college football recruiting, you truly never know what’s going to happen next. For coach Brian Kelly and the Tigers, they received some less than ideal news today, as LSU football five-star commitment Dakorien Moore is reportedly still focused on four programs within his recruitment.

And just like that, top LSU football five-star commitment Dakorien Moore and his recruitment might not be quite as finalized as many initially thought. After announcing his pledge to the Tigers in August of 2023, the purple and gold had plenty to be excited about, as he would become the first of several five-star recruits to commit to the program over the coming months.

With that being said, nothing is truly official until the paperwork is submitted on national signing day, and today was an excellent reminder of that. According to Mike Roach of 247Sports, the talented Duncanville, TX, wide receiver is down to four schools, as Ohio State, Oregon and Texas are still making a strong push.

Important to note, aside from those four programs, he’s shut down his recruitment and in turn, is slowly approaching a final decision.

For the purple and gold, this can be looked at in multiple ways. On one hand, it sounds as though his commitment to the Tigers might not be as strong as we initially thought. Still, in continuing to look at other programs, this can potentially allow him to give coach Brian Kelly and LSU his full attention in the near future, depending on how future visits go with the other programs.

While he doesn’t yet have anything scheduled, it sounds as though Moore is planning official visits with LSU, Oregon and Texas, with a chance of adding Ohio State to the list down the line.

The LSU football five-star commitment ranks as the No. 3 player nationally, according to On3, as well as No. 1 among wide receivers in the class of 2025. He’s currently one of 10 Tiger commitments, with the most recent pledge coming just days ago, when four-star linebacker Charles Ross joined the group over the weekend.
