Sometimes, the greatest recruiters in football are friends and family. Notably, this appears to be a strategy that the Tigers may be looking to use, as LSU football just extended an offer to class of 2026 offensive lineman Canon Pickett, who happens to be the brother of five-star class of 2025 recruiting target DJ Pickett.
LSU football extends an offer to top class of 2026 recruiting target Canon Pickett
Very few recruiters in the entire country are better than offensive line coach Brad Davis. Having landed six signees in the class of 2024 and two commitments already in the 2025 cycle, he’s on quite the hot streak as we look ahead to the 2024 college football season.
Notably, his incredible success has allowed him some flexibility in terms of looking ahead to the future, specifically when it comes to some of the top recruits in the class of 2026.
On Wednesday, he continued this trend, offering elite offensive lineman Canon Pickett.
Currently listed as an unranked recruit, according to 247Sports, Pickett already boasts an impressive list of offers from several major programs throughout the country.
Among some of his top offers include Florida, Florida State, Miami and Penn State, to go along with the Tigers of Baton Rouge.
His early recruitment success likely stems from many reasons. Standing at 6-foot-5, 280 pounds, he has a fantastic build, but is also known to have some quick feet, allowing him to keep up with some of the fastest edge rushers out there.
Additionally, the Tampa, FL, product’s family tree is important to keep in mind, being the younger brother of five-star class of 2025 safety DJ Pickett. In fact, just last week, the older Pickett went ahead and included the Tigers in his list of top-five schools, so this could be a pair to keep an eye on down the line.
The talented offensive lineman is experiencing quite the boost in stock of late, receiving an offer from Oregon as well as LSU just yesterday. With the way things are trending, he could be a big name to know as we get closer to national signing day two years from now.
