LSU becomes first power five program to offer class of 2025 cornerback Shmar Akande
With a now complete defensive coaching staff for the Tigers heading into 2024, itās officially recruiting season. In turn, the new addition coaches have been on the move, sending out plenty of offers, primarily to class of 2025 recruits across the country.
While defensive line coach Bo Davis has likely been the most active, offering and reoffering some of the best defensive linemen in the recruiting cycle, defensive backs coach Corey Raymond has made some noise as well.
Most recently, the former Florida defensive backs coach offered Florida class of 2025 cornerback Shmar Akande.
While currently unranked, Akandeās measurables are reason alone to take a look at the Hollywood, FL, product. Standing at 6-foot-3, 180 pounds, the class of 2025 cornerback already has the kind of size that immediately translates to the next level.
While undoubtedly raw in one-on-one coverage, heās a physical defensive back who hunts for big hits and turnovers on every play. These are likely some of the reasons why LSU was so quick to offer him, becoming the first power five program to do so.
Along with the Tigers, Akande has offers from FIU and Tulane, but donāt be surprised to see this list continue to grow ahead of National Signing Day next February.
