For the first time all season, we could be getting a glance at a full health Tiger basketball team this evening. Today, it was reported that LSU basketball impact forward Daimion Collins has recovered from his shoulder injury and will make his return vs. Northwestern State.

It’s been a largely up-and-down season for coach Matt McMahon’s team in 2023. A big part of this has been due to the significant number of new pieces, but absences certainly haven’t helped things.

Point guard Jalen Cook didn’t get cleared to play until December 16, and power forward Daimion Collins has been injured since November. However, for the first time this season, the Tigers are at full health.

According to Joe Tipton of On3, the LSU basketball impact forward has healed from his shoulder injury and will make his return to the court Friday as the Tigers get ready to take on Northwestern State.

Through five games this season, Collins has recorded 4.8 points, 2.2 rebounds and 0.6 blocks on just 9.8 minutes per game. While his numbers won’t exactly pop on the box score, his ability to come in and make an immediate impact off the bench cannot be overstated.

With the junior power forward making his return this evening, he’ll slide into a rotation that includes sophomore Jalen Reed, senior Derek Fountain and senior Hunter Dean.

While they may elect to ease him in initially, the additional depth he provides could be game changing for coach Matt McMahon and his squad.

The Tigers will take on Northwestern State in Baton Rouge at 7:00 p.m. CST. The matchup will be available to watch live on ESPN+/SEC Network+.
