LSU baseball recruiting lands big-time commitment from class of 2025 catcher Landon Hodge
Coach Jay Johnson is looking to put together a squad for the recruiting class of 2025. Led by elite shortstop Quentin Young, LSU baseball now has a whopping 18 commitments in the cycle.
The most recent came today, as California catcher Logan Hodge announced his pledge to the purple and gold.
Formerly having been committed to Stanford early on, the 6-foot-1, 175-pound catcher elected to decommit from the in-state Cardinal in September of 2023.
What makes Hodge so intriguing as a prospect is his combination of athleticism along with elite defensive ability. Already possessing solid arm strength to go along with consistent ball-to-bat contact, his potential as a college player is noteworthy.
The big thing to keep an eye on has he continues to improve over the years will be how well he can fill out his frame. If he can add some extra strength to his swing, it could increase his impact potential down the line with the Tigers.
Hodge is catcher commitment No. 2 for the purple and gold in the class of 2025, joining Omar Serna, out of Houston, TX.
Coach Jay Johnson’s squad will get things going for the 2024 season on February 16, as the Tigers welcome VMI to Alex Box Stadium for the season opener at 2:00 p.m. CST.
