The wait is finally over and LSU baseball has all of their goals right in front of them. After sweeping Ole Miss in the final series of the regular season, the Tigers have officially received the No. 11 seed ahead of the 2024 SEC Tournament.

LSU baseball receives seeding and matchups ahead of 2024 SEC Tournament

Not too long ago, it wasn’t even a guarantee that LSU baseball would make the 2024 SEC Tournament. However, after most recently coming away with a series sweep vs. Ole Miss this past weekend, the Tigers are not only in the tournament, but are notably looking like one of the hottest teams in the entire conference.

Finishing with a final regular season conference record of 13-17, the overall Tiger resume isn’t exactly something that will easily impress. However, even with just a bit of context, it’s not hard to see why people are beginning to become so high on the purple and gold as we approach the college baseball postseason.

With a final nonconference record of 23-3, coach Jay Johnson‘s squad has been lights out when it comes to competing with teams outside of the SEC. Additionally, after going 10-5 in their last 15 conference matchups, it seems as though they’ve finally cracked the code for competing with the best of the best in today’s version of college baseball.

Now, with the 2024 SEC Tournament officially just days away, it’s time to put this group to the test, as they’ll have one of the more challenging journeys to the Championship in the entire bracket.

Receiving the No. 11 seed, the Tigers are officially set to face off against No. 6 Georgia on Tuesday, with No. 3 Kentucky awaiting the eventual winner of the first round matchup.

Aside from those two, No. 2 Arkansas, No. 7 Alabama and No. 10 South Carolina make up the remainder of LSU’s side of the bracket. Notably, while the purple and gold have yet to play Georgia at any point this season, they have played series’ against Alabama and Arkansas, ultimately falling against both.

LSU baseball will get their 2024 SEC Tournament started against the Bulldogs out of Athens, GA, on Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. CST in Hoover, AL. This is scheduled as the first game of the bracket, so expect coach Jay Johnson and his squad to come out swinging as they look to continue their hunt for a spot in the NCAA Tournament later this spring.
