The Tigers are officially making moves in the transfer portal. Things got off to a hot start on Friday, as coach Brian Kelly and LSU football welcomed Jardin Gilbert and Zavion Thomas to the 2024 roster. However, they arenât done yet, as theyâre reportedly in contact with elite Tulane transfer portal wide receiver Chris Brazzell.
LSU in contact with Tulane transfer portal wide receiver Chris Brazzell
After a largely slow start to the class of 2024 transfer portal for LSU, patience began to pay off Friday afternoon, as the Tigers gained two new additions on the day.
Both safety Jardin Gilbert and wide receiver Zavion Thomas are former SEC players and should come in and leave an immediate impact. However, they arenât the only players who could come in and make a name for themselves right away.
Coach Brian Kelly and the LSU football program are still in contact with several other big-time transfers. One such player is Tulane transfer portal wide receiver Chris Brazzell.
Along with the Tigers, Brazzell is in contact with plenty of other elite programs in college football such as Georgia, Miami, Michigan, Tennessee, Utah and Washington.
The Texas native has big-time potential
As things stand Monday morning, Tulane transfer portal wide receiver Chris Brazzell is largely viewed as one of the top players in the class of 2024. According to 247Sports, the former three-star recruit now ranks No. 48 nationally and No. 10 among pass catchers.
Itâs for good reason too. The former Midland, TX, native stands at 6-foot-5, 195 pounds and is a matchup nightmare every single time he lines up.
As a sophomore in 2023, the Green Wave standout caught 44 passes for 711 yards and five touchdowns. When looking at his tape, his ability to adjust and make acrobatic catches on the run particularly stands out.
With fellow big-bodied wide receiver Brian Thomas Jr (6-foot-4, 205 pounds) likely leaving LSU this year and heading off to the NFL, Brazzell could immediately slide in as a red zone threat.
Regardless of where he ends up in 2024, the soon-to-be third-year wide receiver will have three years of eligibility remaining.
