After a slow start to his return to Baton Rouge, LA, secondary coach Corey Raymond has now found himself on quite the hot streak, most recently landing yet another LSU class of 2025 commitment from four-star safety CJ Jimcoily out of Nashville, TN.
Blue chip safety CJ Jimcoily becomes latest commitment to LSU class of 2025
Corey Raymond has officially arrived, ladies and gentlemen.
After playing a major role in producing some of the best defensive backs to ever come through Baton Rouge – such as Eric Reid, Jamal Adams, Grant Delpit and Derek Stingley Jr – Raymond surprised plenty of fans by leaving the purple and gold for SEC rival Florida in 2022.
However, his stint in Gainesville was short lived, as coach Brian Kelly brought the veteran coach back to the Boot just two seasons later, and with less than a month remaining until the 2024 college football season, it’s safe to say that the secondary coach has picked up right where he left off.
It took some time to truly get his feet back under him on the recruiting scene, but after landing three LSU class of 2025 defensive back commitments in the last month, he’s back and Tiger fans all over the world have every reason to be excited about it.
The latest pledge comes from Nashville, TN, as four-star safety CJ Jimcoily elected to make his final decision earlier this afternoon, joining a secondary group that already includes five-star cornerback DJ Pickett and three-star safety Jhase Thomas.
Officially listed as a 6-foot-3, 205-pound recruit out of Lipscomb Academy, Jimcoily is built like a future Power Four safety and certainly has the skill level to make an impact at the position. Rated as a four-star recruit and the No. 348 player nationally, according to the 247Sports Composite, he’d drawn the attention of some of the top programs in college football, ultimately coming up with a top-four of Alabama, LSU, Stanford and Tennessee.
With today’s commitment, the LSU class of 2025 has once again moved up, landing at No. 3 nationally, as well as No. 2 within the SEC with 20 total commitments. Additionally, sitting with 17 total blue chip commitments – eight of which are on the defensive side of the ball – coach Brian Kelly has found himself with an impressively well-rounded group.
