It appears that Tiger fans have finally gotten their answer. After going down with a head injury late in the game vs. Alabama, no one was sure if quarterback Jayden Daniels would be able to return a week later for LSU football vs. Florida. However, in today’s media availability, coach Brian Kelly gave an encouraging update on the Heisman contender.
Quarterback Jayden Daniels is ‘probable’ for LSU football vs. Florida on Saturday
Quarterback Jayden Daniels took a big hit from Alabama linebacker Dallas Turner in the fourth quarter this past Saturday, and no one quite knew what that would mean for the remainder of the season. He was later ruled out with a head injury and has been questionable for most of the week heading into LSU football vs. Florida.
So far in 2023, quarterback Jayden Daniels has been one of the best, if not the best, players in college football. He’s amassed 3,476 total yards to go along with 33 touchdowns, helping to make him one of the top candidates for the Heisman Trophy.
As if Tiger fans needed any further evidence that the star quarterback was critical to the LSU football offense, after he came out of the game vs. Alabama, they failed to score another point, ultimately falling to the Crimson Tide 42-28.
However, after another practice of heading in the right direction, coach Brian Kelly revealed some good news today.
“He practiced again today, so he will most likely pass the protocol, and I would say that he is probable for Saturday,” Kelly said at Thursday’s post-practice press conference.
The head coach added, “Most of the things that he normally does within his preparation, he’s been able to prepare in the manner that he feels comfortable, and we feel comfortable, or we wouldn’t put him out there.”
With every day that passes, it’s sounding more and more likely that we will once again see quarterback Jayden Daniels on the field vs. the Florida Gators. This is excellent news for the Tiger offense and the entire LSU football team.
The 5th-year senior is a leader and one of the best players in the country, regardless of position.
If he is indeed good to go on Saturday, look for this team to thrive on the offensive side of the ball. On the year, Florida has allowed 24.67 points per game, ranking No. 60 nationally. Barring any step back from his injury, those kinds of statistics could bode very well for LSU’s chances to earn their seventh victory of 2023.
