One of the greatest venues in all of college football is about to get even better. Earlier this week, LSU football announced that not only is Tiger Stadium being upgraded with a hefty dose of LED lights, but purple and gold fans will have a nearly doubled in size videoboard to look forward to for the 2024 home opener in early September.

Big-time upgrades are coming to Tiger Stadium as soon as this fall

For any LSU football fans who may have spent any time in the Baton Rouge, LA, area this offseason, you may have noticed some work being done on Tiger Stadium.

Well, as it would turn out, the college football arena that has come to be known as Death Valley is entering its 100th season, and to help honor the impressive feat, the purple and gold have taken several measures to not only celebrate, but even upgrade the stadium that the Tigers call home.

Among the many changes of note include LED ribbon boards and lights that should help to add a whole new dynamic to game day. With that said, the most impressive change very well may be coming from the iconic north endzone videoboard.

More than doubling in size, the videoboard is quickly becoming one of the biggest and best in all of college football. Measuring an impressive 5,624 square feet, the new and improved board is set to stand taller than ever at 37-feet to go along with 152 more feet in width.

As if that weren’t enough, they elected to upgrade the sound system as well, adding speakers to both sides of board, each measuring 19-feet x 37-feet.

Notably, as big as the upgrades seem, the best news might be the fact that everything is expected to be ready for the home opener on September 7, 2024 vs. Nicholls, which will take place as a night game, in true Death Valley fashion.

Along with the home-state Nicholls State Colonels, coach Brian Kelly and his third-year football team will welcome in UCLA (Sept. 21), South Alabama (Sept. 28), Ole Miss (Oct. 12), Alabama (Nov. 9), Vanderbilt (Nov. 23) and Oklahoma (Nov. 30) throughout the entire 2024 college football season.
