As LSU continues to make a strong push for some of the top players in the class of 2025, more and more recruits are beginning to take notice. Earlier today, the Tigers were named as a finalist for highly sought-after linebacker Mantrez Walker.
Highly sought-after linebacker recruit includes LSU football as a finalist
Coach Brian Kelly has the Tiger football program moving in a very positive direction. Seemingly every single day, a big-time recruit or two expresses interest in the purple and gold, further proving that LSU is truly a national brand.
In turn, the program has already put together one of the best groups in the entire class of 2025, and they arenāt anywhere close to being done. Most recently, the Tigers were listed as a finalist for highly sought-after linebacker recruit Mantrez Walker.
Having previously been committed to Michigan for the majority of 2023, Walker is no stranger to the national recruiting scene. With offers from many of the best programs in college football, itās clear that heās viewed in a very high regard.
Currently rated as a three-star recruit, and the No. 433 player nationally, according to the 247Sports Composite, heās not exactly the highest ranked player that the Tigers are currently going after.
Still, the 6-foot, 215-pound Buford, GA, product plays hard and consistently makes plays all around the field for his high school. Now, with a list of finalists that includes Colorado, LSU, Miami, Ole Miss and Penn State, it looks likely that heāll soon be doing the same thing at a power five program in the near future.
Having recorded 59 tackles and 4.5 tackles for loss over the last two seasons, Mantrez Walker is a hard hitting, downhill kind of player that possesses the kind of physicality defensive coordinator Blake Baker and the Tigers have been searching for over these past few months.
The purple and gold first offered the three-star linebacker on October 29, 2022. Now, after being named to his list of top-five, it will be interesting to see if the long-term commitment ends up paying off in the end.
