Confidence is an easy thing to come by in the preseason. That’s the time of the year when hype begins to build, and it’s not uncommon to find several teams that feel unstoppable. The issue is that very few teams are ever truly “unstoppable.” Earlier this week, soon-to-be LSU football opponent, Florida State wide receiver Johnny Wilson, went on the Preferred Walk-On podcast and made some bold statements ahead of the 2023 week one matchup.

This Sunday, we will see two very confident teams faceoff in what could be one of the top games this college football season. LSU football will take on Florida State for the second season in a row this Sunday at 6:30 p.m. CST.

Florida State is widely viewed as having one of the best offenses in the country this season – for good reason, too. The Seminoles returned several vital pieces and added more talent through the transfer portal.

Because of this, some members of the Florida State offense are feeling particularly confident with less than a week to go before the start of their season.

This past Monday, Seminole wide receiver Johnny Wilson appeared on the “Preferred Walk-On” podcast. In the interview, he spoke about topics ranging from the start of his football career to this upcoming season.

One of the most notable statements was in response to how he views this year’s team compared to the rest of the country. Needless to say, Wilson is feeling good about the Seminoles’ odds in 2023.

There’s nothing wrong with having confidence in the offseason. However, you need to ensure you back it up on the field. In 2022, Johnny Wilson recorded 43 receptions for 897 yards and five touchdowns. Furthermore, against the Tigers, he picked up three receptions for 60 yards.

There’s no denying the matchup nightmare that Wilson poses for opposing defenses. Standing at 6-foot-7, 237 pounds, very few defenders can compete with his size.

As LSU football prepares to defend him and the Florida State offense this Sunday, it’ll be curious to see who ultimately wins the matchup. This could be one of the best games in 2023 college football, so if the Tigers manage to slow down Wilson and the Seminoles, it could bode well for the rest of the season.
