Since this past Friday, Tiger fans have been treated with some red hot recruiting from coach Brian Kelly and the entire coaching staff when it comes to the transfer portal. Over the last week, they’ve landed commitments from three new additions, including former Vanderbilt quarterback AJ Swann last night. Now, another big-time player has entered the mix as former LSU recruiting linebacker target Tackett Curtis will transfer away from USC.

When entering the 2024 transfer portal cycle, coach Brian Kelly made one thing very clear. He wants to bring as many Louisiana studs back to the Boot as he can.

So far, out of his three commitments this cycle, two are originally from in-state and will be making their return in 2024, as safety Jardin Gilbert and wide receiver Zavion Thomas announced their commitments on Friday.

However, the Tiger head coach isn’t done yet and one player who could become a name to watch is former LSU recruiting linebacker target Tackett Curtis, who will officially transfer from USC after just one season with the Trojans.

As a freshman in 2023, the Many, LA, native totaled 40 tackles, two sacks, one pass defended and one forced fumble. Additionally, after getting off to a bit of a slow start, he was a major piece of the defense by season’s end.

Standing at 6-foot-2, 225 pounds, the former LSU recruiting linebacker target possesses elite speed and plays with a physicality that the Tigers could desperately use in 2024.

Along with LSU, a team to keep an eye on this recruitment is Ohio State, as they were heavy contenders for him as a recruit in the class of 2023.

If coach Brian Kelly manages to bring him back home to Louisiana, he could immediately come in and be a part of an elite linebacker core which already features star junior Harold Perkins Jr and sophomore Whit Weeks.
