Having most recently completed his list of summer official visits, top LSU football recruiting target and five-star cornerback DJ Pickett is now just a couple weeks away from making his final decision.

Five-star LSU football recruiting target DJ Pickett to make July commitment

One of the top recruiting battles in the entire class of 2025 is quickly approaching its end, and LSU football recruiting has notably found itself right in the midst of it.

Earlier today it was reported that five-star cornerback DJ Pickett will make a July commitment just a couple weeks from now and will ultimately choose between Georgia, LSU, Miami and Oregon.

Rated as the No. 4 player nationally, according to On3, as well as No. 1 among fellow cornerbacks, Pickett has been receiving serious interest from the purple and gold for months now, but it wasn’t until just recently that things really started to pick up in that relationship.

Shortly after taking an unofficial visit to Baton Rouge, LA, on January 31, Pickett elected that he’d seen enough and updated his list of top schools to just five, including Georgia, LSU, Miami, Michigan and Oregon.

Since then, he’s most recently taken an official visit with LSU football recruiting, Clemson, Georgia, Miami and Oregon over the last month or so, and will now make his final commitment on July 17.

Listed at 6-foot-4, 179 pounds, Pickett has elite length for a cornerback and surprisingly has the athleticism to match. In turn, this has played a major role in his five-star rating, and it only helps that he can truly play just about any skill position, having recorded snaps at wide receiver, cornerback and safety over each of the last two seasons.

As a sophomore and junior for Zephyrhills High School, the Tampa, FL, product has totaled 95 receptions for 1,919 yards and 27 touchdowns on offense to go along with 70 tackles, five interceptions and three pass deflections on defense.

As we stand today, the Tiger class of 2025 rests at No. 3 nationally, as well as No. 2 among SEC schools with 12 total commitments. However, with just three defensive pledges, adding a defensive back such as Pickett could do incredible things not only for the group as a whole, but the future for coach Brian Kelly and his entire squad in Baton Rouge.
