As we look ahead to recent class of 2025 LSU commitments quarterback Bryce Underwood and Dakorien Moore, recruiting analyst Cooper Petagna provided some very familiar and recent comparisons for Tiger fans to think about.

The future is bright with quarterback Bryce Underwood on the way

Thereā€™s no denying how talented the class of 2025 LSU commitments have the potential to be. With multiple top-five ranked recruits already sitting as future Tigers, coach Brian Kelly is gaining some of the best players in high school football.

However, in terms of what their playstyles will look like, particularly when it comes to quarterback Bryce Underwood and wide receiver Dakorien Moore, what should Tiger fans expect?

Well, for national recruiting analyst Cooper Petagna of 247Sports, he has a largely familiar and recent comparison for the pair, saying, ā€œIā€™ll give you two guys. Iā€™ll given you Jayden Daniels, and Iā€™ll give you Malik Nabers.ā€

Focusing in on the quarterback comparison a bit more, he made sure to explain that theyā€™re very different players, but from an arm talent point of view, as well as their ability to use their legs when needed, itā€™s not hard to see the similarities.

ā€œJayden Daniels and Bryce Underwood, theyā€™re different players, and Iā€™ll say this. Bryce Underwood is a passer first who is very athletic in the pocket and is very good at extending plays. I think thatā€™s what he does well. I love his playmaking ability on the perimeter.ā€

Coming out of high school, class of 2025 quarterback Bryce Underwood is widely viewed as one of, if not the best recruit in the nation. Sitting at No. 1 nationally, the Belleville, MI, product is rated as a five-star and has everyone excited to see what he can do at the college level.

Having thrown the ball for 8,979 yards and 120 touchdowns over the last three seasons, while adding 831 yards and 21 touchdowns on the ground, heā€™s not the prototypical dual-threat that Heisman Trophy winner Jayden Daniels was. Still, when looking at his ability to throw the ball and find an open man downfield, very few quarterbacks compare.

Dakorien Moore should keep speed as a strength for WRU

While the Bryce Underwood and Jayden Daniels comparison isnā€™t exactly a direct example, itā€™s much easier to recognize the comparisons between elite wide receivers Malik Nabers and Dakorien Moore.

ā€œThis guy Dakorien Moore is one of the most explosive, dynamic players coming out in the 2025 cycle,ā€ Petagna continued about the talented class of 2025 wide receiver. ā€œThe thing about him, heā€™s very different from a body type standpoint, but watching his tape, when it comes to balanced body control ā€“ his ability to contort his body in mid-air and make contested catches reminds me a lot of Jaā€™Marr Chase.

ā€œAnd then you dig into the background as well ā€“ his ability as a leaper in the triple jump, he recorded a 10.65 in the 100, and then you turn on the tape. It matches all those verified times, all those verified field events as well.ā€

From a playstyle point of view, the biggest difference between Moore and former LSU football legends Malik Nabers and Jaā€™Marr Chase is his overall size. While both of the former star Tigers are listed right around 6-foot, 200 pounds, the Duncanville, TX, class of 2025 recruit has a much leaner build, standing around 5-foot-11, 175 pounds.

Ranking not far behind his future quarterback, Moore sits at No. 3 nationally, as well as No. 1 among wide receivers. Also listed as a five-star, he has the potential to enter Baton Rouge as an immediate impact kind of player with some of the best speed youā€™ll ever find among pass catchers.

Through three seasons of high school varsity football, heā€™s totaled 130 receptions for 2,653 yards and 29 touchdowns ā€“ 18 of which came this past season.

Keeping this pair with the purple and gold is essential for the future of Tiger football

Important to remember about the world of recruiting is that nothing is official until pen hits paper on national signing day. Thereā€™s still around a year remaining until the pair will need to sign with a program, so thereā€™s still plenty of time for things to shake up.

However, thereā€™s no doubt that coach Brian Kelly and the entire Tiger coaching staff is well aware of what the pair of Bryce Underwood and Dakorien Moore could mean for the future of LSU football.

In 2023, Jayden Daniels and Malik Nabers were able to do incredible things for the entire program. While it would be irresponsible to place similar expectations on the class of 2025 LSU commitments, itā€™s hard not to feel good about what they could do in the purple and gold after a year or two of getting their feet under them.

While recruitment is very much still going for the 2025 cycle, donā€™t be surprised to see the LSU football coaching staff continue to make a strong push for the elite passing game duo. Talent always attracts talent, so keeping them on board is a must, and in turn, could end up leading to additional commitments down the line.

For now, both players are set to make their way back to Baton Rouge this weekend, along with fellow five-star commitment Harlem Berry and several other big-time recruiting targets for the upcoming LSU junior day.
