Heading into the day, coach Brian Kelly and LSU football were expected to host major class of 2024 wide receiver Ryan Williams for an official visit. However, there appears to have been a change of plans, as the five-star will instead only be taking his trips to Alabama, Auburn and Texas.
Class of 2024 wide receiver Ryan Williams reportedly cancels visit to Baton Rouge
Heading into the day, LSU has largely excelled through the recruiting class of 2024. With 29 current commitments, and 28 signees already, thereâs not much more to be done, but coach Brian Kelly still appears to have several targets in mind before the cycle calls it quits.
Among those targets appeared to include class of 2024 wide receiver Ryan Williams, who decommitted from Alabama just last week. However, at some point over the last few days, plans have changed, as the five-star recruit will reportedly no longer take a visit to Baton Rouge.
Williams, according to 247Sports, ranks among the best wide receivers in the entire country, sitting at No. 3 in his position group, according to 247Sports.
While the Tigers seemingly hoped to get him on campus Wednesday and Thursday for a late push in his recruitment, the class of 2024 wide receiver will instead take just three official visits prior to making his final National Signing Day decision.
Still on his list are trips to Alabama on January 19, Texas on January 26 and Auburn on February 3. These also appear to be the main three programs still in consideration.
As much as it could hurt to lose out on a five-star wide receiver, the Tigers arenât exactly desperate for talent at the position. Already set to join the purple and gold in 2024 are Kylan Billiot, Jelani Watkins and Michael Turner, three four-star recruits with the potential to make an immediate impact as freshmen.
Furthermore, they also have two transfers committed to join the team, as Zavion Thomas (Mississippi State) and CJ Daniels (Liberty) should push for significant snaps.
Theyâll join a group that already has claim to several high-potential players including Aaron Anderson Jr, Chris Hilton Jr, Kyle Parker, Kyren Lacy and Shelton Sampson Jr.
