What a past couple of weeks it has been for coach Brian Kelly and the Tigers. From recruiting, to the transfer portal, to coaching staff hires, things are going about as well as one could hope for the purple and gold. However, today, they may have just received the best news yet, as five-star class of 2025 quarterback Bryce Underwood has officially announced his commitment to LSU football recruiting.

Go ahead and take a bow, coach Brian Kelly.

Since his initial hiring prior to the 2022 college football season, thereā€™s been no shortage of doubters when it comes to the Tiger head coach and his ability to recruit against the powers in SEC country.

However, the veteran head coach entered Baton Rouge with one very specific goal in mind. He wants to build a roster capable of winning championships, and he knew high-level recruiting would be key.

In the 2022 recruiting cycle, he went ahead and brought in the No. 7 overall group nationally. Only continuing his positive momentum, his class of 2023 landed at No. 5, and so far in the class of 2024, they sit at No. 10.

Still, for coach Brian Kelly, he wasnā€™t satisfied, and now, as we begin to look ahead to the upcoming recruiting cycle, he might be putting together one of the best groups Tiger fans have ever seen.

Today, LSU officially landed their third five-star offensive commitment in the class of 2025, as quarterback Bryce Underwood will take his talents to the Boot.

Underwood, a 6-foot-3, 205-pound signal caller out of Belleville, MI, picked the purple and gold out of a list of several of the top programs in the country. Among his choices were Alabama, Florida State, Michigan and Oregon.

Even despite being in the midst of his junior year, the star quarterback already looks like a high-level college athlete. Heā€™s playing like it too, having thrown the ball for 3,329 yards, 41 touchdowns and just three interceptions in 2023,Ā while completing 64.9 percent of his passes.

Class of 2025 dominance

Notably, Underwood isnā€™t the only stellar commitment the Tigers have landed thus far in the class of 2025. LSU is now up to eight pledges overall, including six on offense and two on defense.

Three-star cornerback Jaylen Bell out of Loganville, GA, got things going for the purple and gold in November of 2022, and they havenā€™t slowed down since. Of their eight commitments, four are ranked within the top-250 nationally.

The first five-star pledge of the cycle came from wide receiver Dakorien Moore out of Duncanville, TX, in August this past year. Moore ranks No. 4 nationally, and No. 1 among pass catchers.

The top defender in the Tiger class is four-star Keylan Moses out of Baton Rouge, LA. While technically listed as an athlete, the local star projects as more of a linebacker at the college level, similarly to his older brother Dylan, who went on to win two national championships with the Crimson Tide at Alabama.

Finally, Harlem Berry, a stud running back out of Metairie, LA, committed earlier this week and is by far one of the fastest players in all of high school football.

While the class of 2025 recruiting cycle is nowhere near over, if coach Brian Kelly can continue to recruit the way he has, donā€™t be surprised if this ends up being one of, if not the best groups in the entire country. The Tiger head coach wanted to come in and build a championship level roster. So far, things appear to be trending in a very good direction for the purple and gold.
