Currently sitting in the midst of some serious momentum, LSU football recruiting is now a candidate to potentially receive some more good news in the near future as class of 2025 safety CJ Jimcoily appears to be approaching a final decision.

LSU football recruiting target CJ Jimcoily could potentially make his final decision as soon as this week

Nearly two full months after last narrowing his list of top contenders, four-star class of 2025 safety CJ Jimcoily appears to be quickly approaching a final decision within his recruitment.

Earlier yesterday, Steve Wiltfong of On3 reported that – despite having a commitment date of August 8 – the big-time LSU football recruiting target could make his final decision as soon as later this week, with Stanford and the Tigers remaining as the top-two.

Whether the talented Nashville, TN, product makes his official announcement this week or not is yet to be seen, but having most recently hosted him just one month ago, Brian Kelly and the Tiger coaching staff have to at the very least feel good about where they stand in this one.

Listed as a 6-foot-3, 210-pound safety, Jimcoily ranks as the No. 375 player nationally, according to the 247Sports Composite, as well as No. 32 at his position.

Furthermore, rated as a four-star recruit in the class of 2025, the Lipscomb Academy standout has shown plenty of versatility as an all-around defensive back, having spent time at both cornerback and safety in his time at the high school level.

Along with LSU football recruiting and Stanford, Alabama and Tennessee both previously made a strong push for the blue chip recruit, but it’s long felt like a two-horse race. As we stand today, the purple and gold are narrow favorites to eventually land his commitment, with On3 giving them a 20.4 percent chance compared to the Cardinal’s 17.9.

If he does ultimately follow through and elect for coach Brian Kelly and the Tigers, he’ll join an LSU football recruiting class of 2025 that has seen a massive boost on the defensive side of the ball, most recently receiving commitments from four-stars Brandon Brown (defensive tackle), Damien Shanklin (edge rusher), Jhase Thomas (safety), La Jesse Harrold (edge rusher) and Zion Williams (defensive tackle).
